Custom Milling & Consulting, Inc. (CMC) produces a premium line of Mulch Colorants and Dyes for mulch manufacturers in the state of Florida.
Cities like Orlando, Tampa Bay, Daytona, and Miami have houses, businesses and organizations landscaping with colored mulch to add extra curb appeal.
CMC began with toll milling services for companies that produced materials of a liquid medium or slurry. They expanded into manufacturing milling equipment and mixers designed to mill wet materials. With their knowledge and expertise in particle size reduction and dispersion they created their own formula for premium dyes and colorants made to color mulch.
The mulch colorant and dye industry is rapidly growing in the Florida region and continues to grow as people want to spruce up their yards, gardens, and more.
What many people do not know is that mulch offers many more benefits to your lawn care regimen, including:
- Insulation for plants in varying climates
- Keeps weed growth down
- Holds in moisture preventing your plants from drying out
- Can add nutrition to your soil depending on what type of mulch you use
- Prevents erosion from water drainage
What type of insulation and protection you want for your garden can vary depending on what color you choose. Lighter colors like gold or red will reflect the heat off the soil keeping plants cool in the hot weather.
Dark colors like brown, and black will absorb the heat in the winter providing extra insulation for the roots of the plants. Custom Milling & Consulting’s line of colorants includes:
- Spring Brown – Brown with a tint of yellow
- Cherry Brown – Brown with a hint of red
- Dark Brown – Dark rich natural brown
- Coffee – Dark mix of browns
- Xtra Black – Rich deep black
- Gold – Blend of yellows
- Red – settle mix of red pigments
- Crimson Red – mix of red pigments that are dark and rich
In addition to our premium mulch colorants we also provide a hybrid colorant that can be used on those types of mulch that your basic dye will not adhere to. Mulch manufacturers in Florida are using palm trees for mulch but it is more difficult to dye than your basic wood mulch. The hybrid line is designed to chemically adhere to mulch products that are difficult to color like cedar, palm, aggregate, bark, green waste or blended sub-waste.
If you are need of equipment to color your mulch CMC has partnered with Timber Ridge Equipment for the Chameleon Colorant System, and manufactures the Chameleon Pump systems, and Tote mixers.
