Custom Milling & Consulting has been in the wet milling business for many years and continues to specialize in contact processing services, manufacturing milling equipment and producing their own line of mulch colorants for Virginia and states all over the country.
With our background in formulation development and particle size reduction we have created a line of colorants that are designed to chemically adhere and to never fluctuate more than 3% in color strength. We provide colorants to cities like Richmond, Roanoke, Charlottesville, Norfolk, and Virginia Beach. Product is readily available at our 70,000 square foot facility located in Fleetwood, Pennsylvania.
Colored mulch adds a curb appeal to you place of business, home, or organization. Besides just looking pretty mulch has many more benefits to offer including:
- Limits erosion from water drainage
- Provides insulation for plants when weather is cold
- Reflects UV rays preventing dehydration
- Can provide nutrients to the soil as it breaks down
Mulch manufactures years ago only produced mulch that was different shades of brown or a cypress color because that is all that was available to them. Then someone had the idea to add color to the wood so that they could appeal to a wider range of people. By offering more variety to their customers many mulch producers can increase their bottom line.
CMC line of mulch colorants in Virginia:
- Black – deep dark color
- Brown – dark with some warm undertones
- Spring Brown – a brown mixed with a little yellow
- Cherry Brown – a mix of browns and red
- Coffee – a dark rich brown/black color
- Red Crimson – a very deep mix of red
- Red – a lighter red color
- Gold – a blend of yellows
CMC has also partnered with Timber Ridge Equipment to provide our customers the ability to have a full turnkey system for their mulch coloring needs.
The Chameleon Colorant System has been engineered to color mulch up to 400 yards per hour. As you load the mulch into the trommel the screens mix the mulch as the sprayers pump out the colorant and then sent out to a radial conveyor.
There is a pump that is integrated with the system that takes the colorant from the totes and water and mixes it with an in-line static mixer before it is fed to the sprayers. This pump can be integrated with any coloring system that your company is currently using to color mulch
